Development Plan of Pune Metropolitan Region, India
The Pune Metropolitan Region (PMR) is spread over 6,914.26 sq. km. area, comprising of 814 villages and is the largest Metropolitan Region in Maharashtra, third largest in the country in terms of area. Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority has prepared the Draft Development Plan for PMR that is envisioned for 2041 with an intent to promote integrated, inclusive growth, guiding the present and future sustainable development of rural areas, towns and cities. The Region is set to become ‘India’s most Liveable Region’ by 2041, implementing 5 sectoral development Goals, through consolidated development model concept. The Plan proposes 18 Growth Centres with unique economic role to each. Role: Senior Planner, led the multidisciplinary team, developed strategies, implementation strategies and prudent approaches for the DP under the guidance of Hon’ Commissioner and Metropolitan Planner, PMRDA. Completed the Development Plan Report and its graphics. Organised and facilitated community engagement of 70,000 people and created a structured approach towards replying to their suggestions/ objections.
