Growth Centre Plans, Development Plan of PMR, India
The existing land-use survey revealed that many rural villages have been subsumed by urban sprawl. Considering this, assessment of 814 villages was systematically carried out based on 13 urbanisation potential parameters. 233 villages were identified as Urban and were clubbed into 18 Growth Centres, for which detailed planning was proposed. Out of the 18 Growth Centres, few examples are listed below- Wagholi, Loni Kalbhor, Uruli Kanchan, Shikrapur and Ranjangaon. Volume 2 of the Draft Development Plan Report explains each Growth Centre in detail. Wagholi is proposed to be the Eastern Regional Centre & IT Hub, Loni Kalbhor is proposed to the Life Sciences & Smart Agriculture Hub, Uruli Kanchan as the Agro-Processing Hub, Shikrapur as the Logistic Hub and Ranjangaon as the Integrated Industrial Town. Role: Designed Growth Centre specific urban framework and proposed land-uses, transport/ transit integration & network, utility management, tourism development, housing, social amenity planning, and environmental strategies for the growth centers, ranging from 60 sq.km. to 200 sq.km covering 1500 sq.km. of area and Rural area planning for 4500 sq.km. of area. Worked on the incorporation of contemporary concepts of sustainability, resilience, and carbon neutrality aligning with Sustainable Development Goals.
